Monash Global Medical AI Challenge

Nexus's most ambitious initiative to date. Over two weeks, 150+ medical students from 19 countries came together to learn, build, and compete — developing AI-driven solutions to real healthcare problems and presenting them to a panel of expert judges. The challenge featured insights from speakers affiliated with Harvard and MIT, and drew participants from as far as Cuba and Korea. It was student-led innovation at a genuinely world-class level, and a demonstration of what becomes possible when ambitious minds collaborate across borders.

Vibe Coding Workshop

Where theory meets execution. This technical workshop moved participants through guided, hands-on coding exercises applied directly to healthcare datasets and real problem-solving scenarios. The philosophy was simple: start small, stay consistent, and build something real. Students walked away with sharper skills, stronger confidence, and proof that they could actually create — not just consume.

Women in MedTech

A night that was equal parts inspiring and honest. Our Women in MedTech panel brought together female leaders from medicine, startups, research, and industry to speak openly about leadership, navigating bias, career progression, and building influence in emerging tech spaces. The conversation went beyond surface-level inspiration into the real, practical realities of being a woman at the frontier of healthcare innovation. The connections made that evening continue well beyond the event itself.

Intro to Programming

No experience required — and no judgment either. This hands-on session was designed to remove the fear factor from coding and replace it with curiosity. Students worked through accessible exercises with mentors by their side every step of the way, and most left surprised by how quickly it clicked. The biggest takeaway wasn't a line of code — it was the realisation that building is something they could actually do.

2025 Nexus Launch Night

The event that set the tone for everything that followed. Launch Night brought together medical students, clinicians, founders, and researchers under one roof to explore what happens when medicine meets technology — not in theory, but right now. Expert speakers shared how AI and digital health are already reshaping clinical practice, followed by a panel discussion and open networking that gave students direct access to the people building the future of healthcare. The energy in the room made one thing clear: this community means business.

Surgical Robotics Field Trip

Students stepped beyond the lecture theatre and into the operating room of the future. This exclusive field trip gave participants rare, up-close access to real surgical robots currently used in modern procedures — guided by the industry experts building and deploying them. Watching a robotic arm move with surgical precision isn't something you forget easily. For many students, it was the moment the future of medicine stopped feeling abstract.
